At the start of 2025, the Russian telecom sector was talking about a number of topics, such as record market growth, regional market consolidation issues, the much-discussed Yarovaya law package, the slowdown of pay TV growth, and the challenges of moving broadband-connected users to IPTV, including bundles as a potential growth area and ARPU increase.

Up until March 2025, when Russian telecom faced a more significant difficulty, industry participants continued to discuss current topics as usual while getting ready to travel to foreign meetings.

Indeed, sanctions against Russia may become crucial given the 9% domestic equipment share. However, the nation has been working on a strategy for the development of telecommunications equipment since 2020, and the moment has come to put it into action. It was mentioned during the Svyaz 2025 meeting in April that the first outcomes of three years of work have already been achieved in terms of measures to boost the telecom industry.

New growth points must be developed in response to the unavoidable shifts in the market structure and the need for top-notch software and equipment. Meetings, discussions, decision-making, and the development of new ecosystems under these circumstances have grown more and more crucial.

At the end of May 2025, the Telebreeze team travelled to Sochi to attend the annual CROS conference in order to talk about these and other concerns. NAG organises CROS every year, although it hasn’t happened in the last two years because of COVID. This is one of the most significant professional gatherings of the year for telecom operators, integrators, industry and business leaders, and telecommunications specialists.

More than 900 people attended CROS this year, including software and communication equipment vendors.

Topics pertaining to B2B marketing, IPTV service operating costs, import substitution issues, technological risks associated with opportunities, and the rules of survival in the “era of change” were the most intriguing to the Telebreeze team. Other topics covered included the segmentation of devices used for video viewing in households.
